Darren Sloniger is the Managing Partner for Marquette Land Investments and is an experienced mixed-use/adaptive-reuse developer who owned and operated his own real estate development company before joining Marquette in 2000. Mr. Sloniger finished his graduate studies in Urban Planning & Policy at the University of Illinois at Chicago with a specialization in community development. Mr. Sloniger has been involved in many adaptive re-use projects, partnering with municipalities to revitalize under-developed vacant lots, as well as abandoned buildings, and properties considered to be blighted by the municipality. Mr. Sloniger won the “Preservation Project of the Year” award for the innovative, adaptive, re-use in a mixed-use development of a historic structure. His background in Urban Planning is critical to understanding the nuances of planning, zoning, and emerging communities, especially in an urban context. Mr. Sloniger is an experienced negotiator with municipalities in the approval of entitlements that create value for land being developed. During his distinguished 15-year career in real estate, Mr. Sloniger is known for his ability to form high-quality, long-lasting successful strategic business relationships.

Nick Ryan is the President of Marquette Property Investments and a Partner with Marquette Land Investments, LLC During a 25-year real estate career, Mr. Ryan has designed, developed, and operated more than $1 billion worth of residential properties, including market rate and tax credit apartments, senior housing and inter-generational communities.

Mr. Ryan co-founded the Marquette Companies in 1983, which currently has over 300 employees dedicated to the housing industry. In 1994, Mr. Ryan co-founded Kensington/Marquette Partners, LLC, which has subsequently acquired and operated more than $400 million of apartment assets on behalf of separate account clients.

Mr. Ryan graduated from Rose-Hilman Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering. Nick’s background in civil engineering provides an important component of understanding sewer, water, and other engineering issues imperative to the creation of a successful land venture. Ryan currently serves as a board member of the National Multi-Housing Council and the Institute for Community. He is also a member of the Pension Real Estate Association.

Bruno Bottarelli as a partner with Marquette Land Investments and is the Director of the Town Builders Collaborative and a Managing Partner of the Marquette Companies representing institutional investors nationally. Mr. Bottarelli is an innovator, known for his "New Urbanist" philophies that integrate community building, economic development, and place-making principles to better fulfill changing societal needs. An architect by profession, Mr. Bottarelli brings strategic planning and vision to the Collaborative executive team. During his 28-year career, Mr. Bottarelli has designed and developed more than $1 billion of diverse real estate throughout the Midwest. A graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture, Mr. Bottarelli is a director of the National Town Builders Association, a founding director of the Institute for Community, and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Trevor Ryan is a Project Manager with Marquette Land Investments, LLC. Mr. Ryan’s main area of focus includes overseeing and managing the entitlement process, land investment analysis, and land acquisitions.

Mr. Ryan is a graduate of Miami University (Ohio) with a Bachelor of Science degree in business economics, and concentrations in business law and urban planning/landscape architecture.

Mr. Ryan began his career working for LaSalle Bank N.A. in the commercial real estate appraisal review department. He continued his career with Stout Risius Ross, Inc. as a commercial real estate analyst/consultant.

Mr. Ryan has a background in commercial real estate appraisal and has worked closely with developers in performing market and financial feasibility analyses for the construction of various property types including CBD office developments, apartment communities, shopping centers, industrial warehouses, movie theatres, and mini-storage facilities.

Mr. Ryan brings his experience and expertise to Marquette’s land team to identify new investment opportunities and create value for MLI investors. In addition to working for Marquette, Mr. Ryan is a Junior Achievement Volunteer and a member of the Urban Land Institute and the YPN Young Professionals Club.

Eric Goodman is a Project Manager with Marquette Land Investments, LLC and is the newest member, joining the Marquette team in 2007. Mr. Goodman’s primary focus involves overseeing and managing the entitlement process, and both land acquisitions and dispositions. Mr. Goodman is a graduate of The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Mr. Goodman began his career with Pulte Homes, Inc. as a customer relations manager following four years of experience in custom home building. He continued his career with Lennar Communities of Chicago, LLC as a land acquisitions/entitlement manager with a focus on infill properties. From his experiences in the home building industry, Mr. Goodman brings knowledge and expertise to the Marquette team to maximize value through the planning and entitlement process and in identifying opportunistic investments.
